My freedom day began 18 months ago!

Today is the much talked about freedom day, where our lives are supposedly going to start becoming more normal again, but how free are we going to be with our jobs, careers or livelihoods? 

Looking back over the last 18 months has made me realise that I have already had my freedom day, by taking those first steps to becoming a business owner a couple of months before the pandemic hit! 

I had an extremely tough choice to make when the pandemic was in full flow - do I step back into employment if I can and shelf my plans? ..or do I continue on a journey of discovery to absolute freedom of becoming my own boss? ..taking control of my own destiny! 

I decided the latter because I was confident I had found the perfect business partner with Keller Williams. Yes it was extremely scary at first but I quickly realised this was more than a business relationship, it was a family, as cringe as that might sound, with values and ambitions aligned with mine! 

The management team at the Keller Williams market centre had talked about being the largest real estate teaching company in the world when I met them, with 190,000+ associate estate agents worldwide, but I was a little sceptical of such a bold statement. 

However, 18 months down the line I can now BOLDLY say all of it is true! The systems and models provide the platform to build the foundations of the business you want to create, but more importantly then that is the support provided from the people around you. The management team, your colleagues and other people you don’t even know who are all part of the amazing Keller Williams family. 

I have never been part of an organisation where everyone truly wants you to succeed and is prepared to offer help, guidance and advice whenever you need it. I am able to learn from absolute GIANTS in the industry and estate agents with incredible businesses who are leading the way! 

Don’t get me wrong it hasn’t been plain sailing but I am now in a position to look back and be extremely thankful that I took those first steps to freedom in my working life - building a career worth having, a business worth owning, a life worth living, with experiences worth giving and legacies worth leaving!
